The committee noted the importance of data-driven service improvements and the challenges posed by increased reporting requirements. The statement also emphasised the service's cultural and leadership programmes.
Strategic Performance Report - Quarter 4
The Strategic Performance Report for Quarter 4 showed strong performance, with 26 measures in green, two in amber, and two in red. The committee discussed the increase in accidental dwelling fires and the measures taken to address this, including targeted advice and broader communication campaigns. The committee also noted the importance of safeguarding referrals and the need for ongoing education and training for staff.
Performance and Resources Report - Quarter 4
The Performance and Resources Report for Quarter 4 highlighted an underspend of £183,000 and the successful realisation of all savings targets. The committee discussed the impact of the reducing Home Office Firelink grant and the importance of maintaining training budgets. The new welfare unit, which provides dignity and shelter for firefighters at major incidents, was also noted.
Forward Plan of Key Decisions
The committee reviewed the Forward Plan of Key Decisions and agreed to endorse the Annual Statement of Assurance for approval by the cabinet.

The committee acknowledged the departure of Peter Rickard, Assistant Chief Fire Officer, who has been appointed as Chief Fire Officer in Cleveland. The committee expressed their gratitude for his service and contributions.
