Bradford District Licensing Panel - Thursday, 13th June, 2024 10.00 am
June 13, 2024 View on council websiteSummary
The Bradford District Licensing Panel convened to discuss licensing applications for Lein Mini Market and Ring O Bells. The panel decided to grant the licence for Lein Mini Market with conditions, while the application for Ring O Bells was deferred for further investigation.
Lein Mini Market Licensing Application
The panel reviewed the Lein Mini Market Report and associated documents, including App 1a, App 1b, App 2, App 3, and the plan. The application was for a licence to sell alcohol for consumption off the premises.
Concerns were raised about potential anti-social behaviour and the impact on the local community. However, the applicant proposed several measures to mitigate these issues, including installing CCTV, implementing a strict Challenge 25 policy, and limiting the hours of alcohol sales.
Councillor Paul Convery stated, The applicant has shown a willingness to work with the community and address concerns. The conditions proposed should help mitigate any potential issues.
The panel decided to grant the licence with the proposed conditions, emphasising the importance of compliance with the agreed measures.
Ring O Bells Licensing Application
The panel also reviewed the Ring O Bells Report and associated documents, including App 1, App 2a, App 2b, App 3, and the plan. This application was for a licence to extend the hours of operation and include live music.
Local residents expressed concerns about noise and disturbance, particularly late at night. The applicant argued that the extended hours and live music would attract more customers and boost local business.
Councillor Paul Convery noted, While economic benefits are important, we must balance them with the quality of life for local residents. More information is needed to make an informed decision.
The panel decided to defer the decision, requesting further investigation into the potential impact on the community and additional consultations with local residents.
