The Appeals Committee of Blackpool Council met to consider two appeals against the decision of council officers not to provide assistance for home to school transport. The committee were also scheduled to note that a third appeal that had been deferred from the previous meeting, had been withdrawn.

Home to School Transport Appeals

Two appeals against the decision of council officers not to provide home to school transport were scheduled to be considered by the committee.

According to the reports submitted to the committee, one of these appeals was about a child, referred to in the meeting as LG, whose family had relocated in November 2023. Because the child was no longer attending one of the three closest Blackpool Community Schools to their new home address, the child's application had not been awarded home to school transport. The meeting in November had been the second time the committee had considered the matter, having deferred it from the 4th of November 2024 because the parent had been unable to attend the meeting. The minutes of the previous meeting record that some questions still remained unanswered in relation to the family’s reasons for moving house. The committee were scheduled to consider the appeal again on the 9th of December 2024.

Deferment of Home to School Transport Appeal

The committee were scheduled to note that an application for home to school transport that they had considered and deferred from the 4th of November 2024 had been withdrawn by the applicant due to a change in their circumstances.
