This meeting was scheduled to include a presentation on the SACRE's annual report for 2023/24 and a report by the Professional RE Adviser on their activities. There were also two standing items on the agenda for updates, one about the Agreed Syllabus, and the other from the Local Authority.
North Yorkshire SACRE Annual Report 2023/24
The draft North Yorkshire SACRE Annual Report 2023-24 - Draft was scheduled to be considered for approval. The report describes the work of the SACRE, which is a statutory body that advises the council on religious education. The report notes that:

SACRE is carrying several vacancies. There are 18 places filled out of 26.

recommended advice to the Local Authority about Ramadan in schools

The professional RE Adviser has worked in partnership with the Literacy Adviser to include input on reading, writing and talk in Religious Education to Literacy networks.
Professional RE Adviser update
The meeting was scheduled to include an update by Olivia Seymour, the Professional RE Adviser to North Yorkshire SACRE. This update was to include:
- Local responses to the Department for Education's 'Curriculum and Assessment Review', which included submissions from:
- The Religious Education Council of England and Wales
- The National Association of Teachers of RE (NATRE)
- Culham St Gabriel's
- A report from Theos Think Tank entitled 'Why RE Matters'
Agreed Syllabus update
The meeting was also scheduled to be updated on the Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. The current syllabus was launched on 14 June 2024, at an event attended by 10 members of the SACRE and 159 teachers.
Local Authority update
The final item on the agenda was to be an update from the Local Authority. This was to include a summary of points raised in recent Ofsted inspections of schools in North Yorkshire. The update notes that following an Ofsted inspection in June 2024, Bedale High School confirmed that it would be following the Agreed Syllabus from September 2024.
