The report pack prepared for the meeting explains that:
It is recommended that the committee resolves to exclude the press and public by virtue of paragraphs 1 & 2 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972.
The Local Government Act 1972 is a law that covers various aspects of local government. Schedule 12A of the act deals with exempt information. Paragraphs 1 & 2 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A allow councils to exclude the press and public if they believe that the information being discussed is likely to reveal confidential information.
