At the Royal Wootton Bassett and Cricklade Area Board meeting, Councillor Nick Dye was elected as Chairman, Councillor Andrew Matthews was elected as Vice-Chairman, and it was decided that all Area Board members would attend the Local Highway and Footway Improvement Group (LHFIG).
Appointment to the Local Highway and Footway Improvement Group (LHFIG)
The Area Board decided that all Area Board members would attend the LHFIG. Councillor Nick Dye, the Chairman, proposed the motion, which was seconded by Councillor Andrew Matthews, the Vice-Chairman.
The [Local Highway and Footway Improvement Group (LHFIG)]1 operates as an informal working group making recommendations to the Area Board for approval. According to the terms of reference for the LHFIG, its membership normally includes:
- Members of the Area Board
- Town and Parish Council representatives
- Community/Stakeholder representatives
The LHFIG can make recommendations to the Area Board regarding small-scale transport schemes, including pedestrian improvements, cycle improvements, bus infrastructure, traffic signing, new road markings, speed limits, waiting restrictions, footpath improvements, drainage, street lighting, and traffic management measures. It cannot fund routine maintenance, service subsidies, promotional campaigns, SID equipment, or improvements for individuals and properties.
Election of Vice-Chairman
Councillor Andrew Matthews was appointed as Vice-Chairman for the forthcoming year. Councillor Martin Denz nominated Councillor Andrew Matthews, and Councillor Lianna Konig seconded the nomination. Councillor Allison Bucknell declined to be nominated for the position.
Election of Chairman
Councillor Nick Dye was appointed as Chairman for the forthcoming year. Councillor Andrew Matthews nominated Councillor Nick Dye, which was seconded by Councillor Martin Denz. Councillor Jacqui Lay nominated Councillor Allison Bucknell, but there was no seconder for the nomination.
