Speakers would be allowed at the Chair's discretion, with one contribution per person per item typically permitted. Items already on the main agenda were not to be raised during the open forum.
Issue Tracking
The forum was scheduled to review a list of issues raised at previous meetings, and the responses received. Issues included:
- Enforcement of abandoned e-bikes: Residents had raised concerns about e-bikes being abandoned outside of designated charging/parking bays. At the previous meeting, Councillor Peter Thompson had advised that council officers had met with representatives from Lime, who undertook to be more proactive in collecting abandoned bikes.
- Notifications from 'fix my street' app: Councillor Joanna Biddolph had raised concerns about the number of notifications being sent to councillors' email accounts after reporting issues via the 'fix my street' app. At the previous meeting, Tim Hurley from Hounslow Highways, had reported that he had met with representatives from the 'fix my street' application to discuss outgoing message options, and that training for staff on logging new reports would be undertaken.
- Contactless card parking machines: Following a request from a resident for contactless card machines for parking bays in Chiswick, the issue was added to the tracker. The issue of 30-minute free parking bays was also added, particularly the 15p admin cost to get a free parking ticket from the machines. At the previous meeting, Councillor Biddolph had confirmed that there was a 15 pence charge to alert people with a text when their parking time was running out.
- Petition from Abinger Road Resident's Association: A resident had advised that a petition from residents in Abinger Road had been submitted to the council, requesting traffic calming measures to reduce the volume and speed of traffic. At the previous meeting, Councillor Gerald McGregor had advised that he would be speaking to the Head of Traffic to discuss whether traffic calming measures could be considered in the new financial year.
- Installation of a lift at Turnham Green station and request for the Piccadilly line to regularly stop at Turnham Green station: A resident had asked for the longstanding requests for the Piccadilly line to stop at Turnham Green Station and for a lift to be installed at the station to be followed up and progressed. At the previous meeting, Councillor Biddolph reported that TfL had now put Turnham Green Station on the list to be reviewed for step free access.
- Recycling from flats above shops: Councillor Biddolph had asked for the issue to be added to the tracker, stating that it was a longstanding issue that still needed a resolution. At the previous meeting, Councillor Biddolph had advised that a consultation about recycling was open on the council website and she urged everyone affected to respond to the consultation.
- Gunnersbury Park Events: Councillor Biddolph had asked for the issue to be added to the tracker as she felt it was a continuous year-long issue that needed to be monitored. At the previous meeting, Councillor Biddolph had advised that planning was underway to mitigate against some of the concerns raised by residents ahead of this year's events.
- Chiswick House & Gardens Conservatory: Councillor Ron Mushiso had requested that this item be added to the tracker so that it could continue to be monitored.
