The General Licensing and Registration Sub-Committee (2) of Durham County Council met on 15 July 2025 to consider the ongoing suitability of a hackney carriage driver, an application to be licensed as a joint hackney carriage and private hire driver, and the ongoing suitability of a private hire driver and private hire operator. The Sub-Committee also reviewed the minutes of their previous meeting.

The meeting was scheduled to be held at County Hall, Durham.

Exclusion of the public

The agenda for the meeting of the General Licensing and Registration Sub-Committee (2) included a resolution to exclude the public during the discussion of items containing exempt information. This was to be considered in relation to the discussion of the suitability of drivers.

The minutes of the previous meeting on 16 April 2025 ¹ record that a similar resolution was passed:

That under section 100 (A)4 of the Local Government Act 1972, the public be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1,2, 3 and 5 of Schedule 12A to the said Act.

• The ongoing suitability of a hackney carriage driver.
• An application to be licensed as a joint hackney carriage and private hire driver.
• The ongoing suitability of a private hire driver and private hire operator.
