Summary
The Staffordshire Council Pensions Board convened to discuss governance and updates from the Local Government Association (LGA) and the Scheme Advisory Board (SAB). A review of the Risk Register was also on the agenda.
Risk Register Governance
The Pensions Board was scheduled to review the Risk Register. The Agenda Item 5 - Risk Register Governance - LPB 260925 document included a report that provided an overview of the Risk Register's governance.
The report stated that the Risk Register is a key document for the Pensions Board, and that it is used to identify, assess, and manage risks to the Staffordshire Pension Fund. The register is reviewed regularly to ensure that it remains up to date and that the risks are being managed effectively.
The Agenda Item 5 - Appendix 1 Risk Register Governance LPB 260925 document contained the Risk Register itself.
LGA and SAB Update
The Pensions Board was scheduled to receive an update from the LGA and the SAB. The Agenda Item 6 - LGA and SAB update for LPB September 2025 document included a report that provided an overview of the LGA and SAB's activities.
The LGA1 is the national voice of local government, and the SAB2 is a body that provides advice to the government on local government pension schemes. The report included the following updates:
- The SAB published its 2025-26 business plan.
- The LGA is working with the government to develop a new framework for local government finance.
- The LGA is also working to support local authorities in their efforts to tackle climate change.
