The Blackpool Council Appeals Committee is scheduled to meet on Monday, 22 September 2025, to consider an appeal against dismissal, and to note the date of the next meeting. The committee will also be asked to agree the minutes of the last meeting held on 23 June 2025.
Appeal Against Dismissal
The committee is to consider a request for a review of the council's decision to dismiss an employee. According to the Dismissal Covering Report September 2025, the purpose of the report is:
To consider and determine a request for a review of the Council's decision to dismiss an employee under the Capability Procedure.
The report pack states that once an application for a review has been received, the Appeals Committee must consider the application and any relevant representations.
The Dismissal Covering Report September 2025 notes that the employee has been invited to attend the meeting, and an officer of the council will be present to represent management.
The report also indicates that the information submitted includes some exempt information.
The Dismissal Covering Report September 2025 states that the relevant council priorities are:

The Head of Corporate Legal and the Chief Executive will be represented at the meeting to advise the Committee on policy and procedure only, and will not have been involved with any decisions previously taken.
Minutes of the Last Meeting
The committee will be asked to approve the minutes of the last meeting held on 23 June 2025 as a true and correct record. At that meeting, Councillor Shaun Brookes was in the Chair, and Jenni Cook was the Clerk to the Committee. Arthur Logan was present as an observer and trainee clerk to the committee. The committee noted the withdrawal of an appeal against dismissal.
