The Croydon Council Appointments and Disciplinary Committee met to progress to the interview stage for the role of Director of Assets and Repairs. The committee also approved the minutes of the previous meeting. Due to the confidential nature of the interviews, the public and press were excluded from the remainder of the meeting.

Appointment of Director of Assets and Repairs

The main item on the agenda was to progress to full panel interviews for the shortlisted candidates for the position of Director of Assets and Repairs. Details of the role and the salary were made available in the agenda pack for the 1 October 2025 meeting. The interviews were scheduled to be held in the Part B session of the meeting, which is not open to the public.

At the previous meeting on 1 October 2025, the committee resolved to agree the salary package for the post of Director of Assets and Repairs Grade 3, at £129,900-135,064, which includes the 3.2% national pay award applicable from 1 April 2025. The committee also agreed to undertake the selection for and agree an appointment to the post from the candidates detailed in the Exempt/Part B Appendix B attached to the report, and noted that any appointment would be subject to the appointment notification process set out in section 3.3 of part 4J of the Council's Constitution (Staff Employment Procedure Rules).

Exclusion of Public and Press

The committee voted to exclude the press and public from the meeting for the remainder of the agenda items. This was done under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972¹, which allows for the exclusion of the press and public when the agenda involves the likely disclosure of exempt information falling within paragraphs 1 and 2 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972, as amended. Councillor Lynne Hale, Statutory Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for Homes, proposed the motion, and Councillor Stuart King, Leader of the Opposition, seconded it.

Minutes of the Previous Meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting held on 1 October 2025 were approved. Councillor King noted that his comments on the appointment of the Chair of Audit had been reflected in the updated paper.
