The report sets out proposed revisions to the Local Development Scheme (LDS) approved by Cabinet 12th March 2024. The proposed revisions seek to provide an updated position on the progress of the Kirklees Local Plan update, the inclusion of a new work stream on a proposed West Yorkshire joint Mass Transit Spatial Development Framework (SDF) Development Plan Document (see Cabinet Item on Mass Transit SDF) subject to Council approval on 16th July 2025 and some general updates to reflect new legislative requirements. An up-to-date LDS is a requirement of Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG). Subject to agreement by Cabinet on 8th July 2025, the LDS will be required to be submitted to MHCLG and made publicly available on the councilâs website.
