Economy & Culture Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 14th October, 2025 4.30 pm

The Economy and Culture Scrutiny Committee met to discuss the Connect to Work programme, playground and play area management, the tennis in parks and skateboard strategy, and a bid to host the 2035 FIFA Women's World Cup. The committee agreed to recommend that a child-friendly impact assessment be carried out for the Connect to Work programme, and requested more information on the baseline standards of the local authorities involved in the scheme. The committee also requested a programme of works for the playground and play areas, and demographic data on the tennis in parks scheme.

The Cardiff Council met to discuss a range of issues, including the annual well-being report, senior management arrangements and budget updates. Councillors also debated a controversial motion on asylum seekers, which was ultimately defeated, and showed strong support for keeping professional rugby in Cardiff.

Standards & Ethics Committee - Tuesday, 23rd September, 2025 4.30 pm

The Standards and Ethics Committee met to discuss several reports, including group leader reports, independent member vacancies, code of conduct complaints, and the annual report. The committee agreed to note the group leaders' reports, establish an appointment panel for the independent member vacancy, and note the National Standards Forum report. A key focus of the meeting was a review of the Local Dispute Resolution Protocol, which led to a lengthy discussion and a decision to revisit the protocol at a future meeting.
