The Corporate Committee of Hackney Council was scheduled to meet on 19 May 2025 to discuss a range of issues, including the establishment of the Planning Sub-Committee, environmental enforcement, business regulation, and the Corporate Peer Challenge update. Skills, Economy and Growth Scrutiny Commission - Monday 7 April 2025 7.00 pm
The Skills, Economy and Growth Scrutiny Commission met to discuss Hackney's transport strategy for 2026-2036, including public consultation plans, and to review the commission's work programme. Councillors discussed ways to achieve the Mayor of London's net zero targets, the decline in bus ridership, and the management of dockless bikes. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved with an amendment to reflect Councillor Jasmine Martins' attendance in person.
Scrutiny Panel - Tuesday 28 January 2025 7.00 pm
The meeting included scheduled discussion of financial matters, specifically the Council's quarterly finance update, and an update on the Council's progress towards the net zero goals set out in its Climate Action Plan.
Living in Hackney Scrutiny Commission - Monday 9 December 2024 7.00 pm
The Commission considered two reports, one on trust and confidence in local policing and the second on serious violence and gang crime in the borough. After presentations by senior officers from the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) and Hackney Council, the Commission asked questions on the issues raised and the plans in place to address them. The Commission ended the meeting with a question and answer session with Councillor Susan Fajana-Thomas OBE, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Regulatory Services.
