Annual Meeting, Council - Wednesday 14 May 2025 7.00 pm

The annual meeting of Hackney Council included the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, the establishment of committees, and a review of procedure rules. Councillors were also scheduled to discuss appointments to outside bodies and a dispensation to extend the six-month rule for Councillor Michael Levy.

Children and Young People Scrutiny Commission - Wednesday 30 April 2025 7.00 pm

The Children and Young People Scrutiny Commission met to discuss behaviour management and school inclusion, the school estates strategy, and the work programme for the remainder of the municipal year. As part of the discussion on behaviour management, the commission was scheduled to hear from Mervin Cato, Head of Behaviour Support Service, Nexus & Anna Vaughan, Project Manager, Nexus (LB Enfield), Rob Williams, Senior Policy Adviser, National Association of Headteachers, and Jason Marantz, Director of Education & Inclusion, LB Hackney. The commission was also scheduled to note a response from Deputy Mayor Anntoinette Bramble, Cabinet member for Education, Young People and Children’s Social Care, regarding the School Estates & Education Sufficiency Strategy.

Corporate Committee - Monday 14 April 2025 6.30 pm

The Hackney Council's Corporate Committee convened on 14 April 2025, to discuss the annual performance of the Noise Service, the Healthier Catering Commitment, and the committee's work programme. The committee reviewed the minutes of previous meetings and discussed ongoing actions.

Planning Sub-Committee - Wednesday 2 April 2025 6.30 pm

The Planning Sub-Committee of Hackney Council scheduled a meeting for Wednesday 2 April 2025, to discuss planning applications and related matters. The agenda included consideration of planning permission and listed building consent for the King's Hall Leisure Centre, and a planning application for Lamb Lane, as well as other items. Councillor Jessica Webb, Chair of the Planning Sub-Committee, was scheduled to welcome attendees and explain the procedure for the meeting.

Children and Young People Scrutiny Commission - Monday 17 March 2025 7.00 pm

This meeting was the second evidence gathering session of the Commission's in-depth review of behaviour management and school inclusion in Hackney. The Commission received evidence from teaching unions and a written submission from the Department for Education. They also reviewed their work programme for the remainder of the year.
