Cabinet - Tuesday 11 March 2025 11.00 am
The Cabinet approved the adoption of Town Centre Action Plans and confirmed the selection of operators for two new cultural spaces: Bermondsey 223 to operate a new multi-arts centre at Bermondsey Blue and Chroma to operate the new pan-London LGBTQ+ cultural centre on the Low Line at Bankside Yards. They also approved the procurement strategy for adults’ and children’s home care and reablement, and awarded contracts for Flexi Care services. The cabinet agreed to use a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) to acquire the remaining leasehold properties at the Ledbury Estate, in order to allow the redevelopment of the estate to proceed as planned. The Cabinet also considered recommendations from the Overview and Scrutiny Committee about charges to leaseholders at the Consort Estate, made in November 2024, asking the relevant Cabinet Member to report back on the recommendations within eight weeks.

The Cabinet of Southwark Council met on Tuesday 4 February 2025 and made a number of decisions, including adopting the Southwark 2030 Delivery Plan, setting its budget for 2025-26, and setting out its school admissions arrangements for 2026-27. The Cabinet also agreed to sell the site of the former Folgate Estate to Weston Homes for redevelopment.

The Cabinet approved an increase to council tenants' rent of 2.7% in line with the government’s guideline rent formula, approved the allocation of Strategic Community Infrastructure Levy funding to four projects, and made a decision to use compulsory purchase powers to acquire the remaining leaseholder properties at the Tustin Estate in order to allow the second phase of its redevelopment to proceed. The cabinet also noted motions on a range of issues referred from the full council meeting.

The meeting approved Southwark Council's Capital Monitoring report for 2024-25. The Council also approved the draft Old Kent Road Area Action plan for submission to the Secretary of State. It also agreed to make a compulsory purchase order on properties on the Aylesbury Estate for phase 2B of its regeneration, and approved the use of the dynamic purchasing system, Plentific.
