At a meeting of the Northumberland County Council cabinet, several key decisions were made, including approving an amended constitution for the Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education (SACRE), increasing the budget for the Northumberland Line project by £28.77 million, and endorsing the Outline Business Case for the Portland Park Cinema and Restaurants project as part of the Ashington Regeneration Programme. The cabinet also discussed and approved updates on the financial restructuring of Advance Northumberland (AN Ltd) and the financial performance of the council for 2025-26.
Rights of Way Committee - Wednesday, 27th August, 2025 10.00 am
The Northumberland County Council Rights of Way Committee convened to discuss several applications and reviews concerning public rights of way and village green status in the region. The committee resolved to arrange a non-statutory public inquiry into an application for village green status at The Fields, Hexham, and also made decisions regarding alleged public bridleways in Akeld & Kirknewton, Carham, Belsay and Matfen.

The Communities and Place Overview and Scrutiny Committee (OSC) was scheduled to meet to discuss the rollout of food waste services, and to review its work programme for the 2025/26 council year. The committee was also expected to note the schedule of decisions made by the cabinet since the last meeting, together with the latest forward plan of key decisions.
