The meeting received presentations from Hackney Council staff and Trade Union representatives about the implementation of the Hackney Libraries Strategy (2022-2026) and the new library staffing structure. The Committee also discussed a refresh of the Hackney Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Strategy. Councillors noted the presentations and asked questions.

The Commission heard a presentation on the work that is being done by Hackney Light and Power, which included presentations from external guests involved in the schemes, before going on to consider its work programme.

Planning Sub-Committee - Wednesday 4 December 2024 6.30 pm

This meeting was about Hackney Council's Planning Sub-Committee considering several planning applications that had been submitted to the Council. The applications included proposals for residential and mixed use schemes as well as for new community facilities. This meeting of the Corporate Committee was an extraordinary meeting called to make decisions on the membership of the council's Planning Sub-Committee. This included approving the existing membership of the sub-committee and confirming how any future changes to the membership will be managed.
