Prescribed Alteration Proposal: Expansion of Landgate School into the Abram Bryn Gates Site on a Temporary Basis

From: Cabinet - Thursday, 31st July, 2025 10.30 am - July 31, 2025

It is proposed to temporarily utilise the vacant Abram Bryn Gates School to enable more children and young people be admitted to Landgate School.   The additional site will enable the School’s Leadership Team to move Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils from the current site at Long Lane to the site at Lily Lane Approximately 3 miles away.   This temporary solution will afford the Council the time it requires to secure additional investment and land to rebuild and permanently expand the school in line with the capacity required to meet both the current and future special educational needs of children and young people living in Wigan.
