Council - Wednesday, 20th November, 2024 7.00 p.m.
At this meeting, the council debated three petitions from members of the public and two motions proposed by the political groups. The council unanimously voted to reject or significantly reduce a proposed Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for dogs and unanimously voted to adopt the Migrant Care Workers' Charter. The council also voted to adopt a motion asking for the reintroduction of Meals on Wheels. The council voted to change who chairs the council committees.
Pensions Committee - Monday, 11th November, 2024 6.30 p.m.
The Pensions Committee noted the reports of the Pension Board, Schroders, and officers. The committee approved the holding of a Pension Fund Information Forum for scheme employers and members in January 2025.
Overview & Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 15th October, 2024 6.30 p.m.
The Committee noted the Council’s progress on the Local Government Association's (LGA) Corporate Peer Challenge (CPC) Action Plan and its performance in the first quarter of the 2024/25 financial year. It also discussed the Council’s performance on tackling rent arrears, its Youth Justice Plan and the Cumulative Impact Assessment (CIA) Policy for licensed premises.
Council - Wednesday, 2nd October, 2024 7.00 p.m.
The meeting approved the creation of a Mayor's Winter Emergency Fund to provide financial support to pensioners ineligible for the scrapped Winter Fuel Allowance payments, and approved time-banded waste collection regulations. Two motions were also debated, one from the Administration on winter fuel payments and another from the Labour group about the council's homelessness accommodation placement policy.
Pensions Committee - Monday, 30th September, 2024 6.30 p.m.
The committee received a presentation on the upcoming 2025 triennial actuarial valuation of the Tower Hamlets Pension Fund, noted various reports on training, employer engagement, pensions administration, risks to the pension fund, the state of the Local Government Pension Scheme, and heard a deputation from trade union representatives.
