Constitution Committee - Tuesday 8 April 2025 5.30 pm

The Constitution Committee was scheduled to meet on 8 April 2025 to discuss proposed amendments to the council's procedure rules and petition scheme, as well as receive an update on the one-year review of the council's constitution. The proposed changes to the procedure rules are intended to address issues raised in a Corporate Peer Challenge[^2] and to improve the efficiency of council meetings. The committee was also expected to review feedback on the constitution from elected members, staff, and the public.

Children and Young People Scrutiny Commission - Monday 17 March 2025 7.00 pm

This meeting was the second evidence gathering session of the Commission's in-depth review of behaviour management and school inclusion in Hackney. The Commission received evidence from teaching unions and a written submission from the Department for Education. They also reviewed their work programme for the remainder of the year.

Pensions Committee - Tuesday 11 March 2025 6.30 pm

This meeting was scheduled to include a deputation from a group of Trade Unions - UNISON, Unite and GMB - asking the Pensions Committee to consider their views on engagement with the committee, worker representation, ethical divestment, and the results of a recent survey of the council's pension scheme members.

2025-26 Budget Setting, Council - Wednesday 26 February 2025 7.00 pm

This meeting was the last meeting of Hackney Council for the 2024/25 municipal year, and included a wide-ranging set of reports, a review of the proposed budget for 2025/26 and a number of motions submitted by the Green and Labour groups.

Children and Young People Scrutiny Commission - Tuesday 25 February 2025 7.00 pm

At this meeting, the Children and Young People Scrutiny Commission discussed its in-depth review of behaviour management and school inclusion, its response to the School Estates & Education Sufficiency Strategy, and the response from the Minister of State for Early Education to its concerns about unregistered educational settings.
