The Durham County Council Cabinet met to discuss a range of issues, including the approval of a new council plan, public health initiatives, support for children in care, and strategies for revitalising high streets. Councillors agreed to publish the Director of Public Health Annual Report 2025, and approved the new Durham Family Strategy 2025-2029, renaming the Corporate Parenting Panel to the Durham Family Panel. Special, Standards Committee - Wednesday 15 October 2025 1.00 pm

The Standards Committee of County Durham Council was scheduled to meet to discuss updates to the Procedure for Member Code of Conduct Complaints. The proposed changes included introducing a Standards Assessment Board, offering informal resolutions to code of conduct breaches, and clarifying the process for handling complaints. The committee was also expected to discuss delegating authority to the Director of Legal and Democratic Services to make minor amendments to the procedure.

The General Licensing and Registration Sub-Committee (1) of Durham County Council met on 15 October 2025. Councillors were scheduled to discuss a new application for a joint Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver Licence, as well as review the minutes from their previous meeting. The meeting was scheduled to include a closed session to discuss the application.

This was a special joint meeting of the Economy and Enterprise Overview and Scrutiny Committee and the Environment and Sustainable Communities Overview and Scrutiny Committee. The main item for discussion was a report and presentation on fuel poverty in County Durham. Councillors were expected to comment on the report and presentation, and to consider receiving a further update on fuel poverty at a future meeting.

The Environment and Sustainable Communities Overview and Scrutiny Committee were scheduled to meet on Friday 3 October 2025 to discuss a number of reports and updates. Items to be discussed included the Durham City Green Corridor, the Local Nature Recovery Strategy, financial forecasts, and performance management. The committee was also scheduled to review the minutes from the Environment and Climate Change Partnership Executive Board meeting held on 1 July 2025.
