...to take effect from 1 April 2026, the committee approved the proposed 3.8% increase to taxi licensing fees and charges for drivers and recommended to the Executive the approval of the proposed 3.8% increase to taxi licensing fees and charges for vehicles and operators, as detailed in Annex A of the report.

Proposed Changes to Taxi Policy - DVLA Points

...to streamline taxi licensing, the committee recommended allowing new applicants with up to 11 DVLA points to apply, requiring existing license holders with 9-11 points to complete a driving course, and revoking licenses at 12 points, with the possibility of reapplication once below that threshold.
