There was also scheduled discussion of a notification about the Bishopsgate Goods Yard development, which is situated mostly in the neighbouring borough of Tower Hamlets.

This meeting of Hackney Council's Corporate Committee was an extraordinary meeting called to confirm the make up of the council's Planning Sub-Committee. The Planning Sub-Committee is responsible for making decisions on planning applications and other planning matters. A report pack prepared for the meeting explains that the Planning Sub-Committee's membership had previously been agreed at the council's Annual Meeting, but a number of revisions to membership were required . The report asked the Corporate Committee to note the revised membership.

In a challenging financial context, the Panel received presentations from each of the directorate heads who set out the key areas of expenditure, cost pressures, and savings delivery proposals. The Panel also received a brief verbal update from the Mayor of Hackney, Mayor Caroline Woodley.

The Living in Hackney Scrutiny Commission met to discuss the Council's draft Private Sector Housing Strategy 2024-29 and the Housing Strategy 2024-29, which were due to be adopted by Cabinet later in the year. Councillors discussed the draft Private Sector Housing Strategy 2024-29, raising questions about enforcement, tenant engagement, and support for specific demographics. The Commission agreed to reflect on the evidence heard and may make suggestions or recommendations for consideration as part of the strategy consultation process. Regarding the Housing Strategy 2024-29, the Commission discussed possible timelines for its publication.
