Special, Statutory Licensing Sub-Committee - Tuesday 15 July 2025 9.30 am
The Statutory Licensing Sub-Committee of Durham County Council met to consider an application for a summary licence review of the Barnard Castle Working Men's Club & Institute, following a report of serious crime and disorder. The sub-committee was scheduled to consider the immediate suspension of the premises licence and the removal of the designated premises supervisor (DPS). At a full review hearing, the police will seek to have the premises licence revoked.
Safer and Stronger Communities Overview and Scrutiny Committee - Monday 30 June 2025 9.30 am
The Safer and Stronger Communities Overview and Scrutiny Committee were scheduled to meet to discuss road safety, the Safe Durham Partnership, and a performance management report. They were also expected to refresh their work programme for the coming year.
Statutory Licensing Sub-Committee - Tuesday 24 June 2025 1.00 pm
The Statutory Licensing Sub-Committee was scheduled to convene to address a new premises licence application and a personal licence application, as well as review minutes from previous meetings. The main focus was to be on the application for a premises licence for Chalkies Sports Bar. Additionally, the sub-committee was to review minutes from meetings held on 25 March 2025 and 8 April 2025.

The Police and Crime Panel of County Durham Council met on 17 June 2025 to discuss the Joint Independent Audit Committee Annual Report 2024-25, the Police and Crime Commissioner's Quarterly Performance Report, arrangements for the appointment of an Independent Co-opted Member, the Police and Crime Panel Annual Report 2024-25 and Work Programme 2025-26, and a complaints update. The meeting was also scheduled to include the election of a chair and vice-chair.

At the annual meeting of Durham County Council, Councillor Robbie Rodiss was elected as Chair and Councillor Jackie Teasdale as Vice Chair. Councillor Andrew Husband was elected as Leader of the Council, who then announced his Deputy Leader and Cabinet members. The council also approved the scheme of delegation as set out in the Council's Constitution.
