Budget and Council Tax Setting Meeting, Council Assembly - Wednesday 25 February 2026 7.00 pm

The Council Assembly of Southwark Council met on Wednesday 25 February 2026 to set the budget and council tax for 2026-27. Key decisions included the approval of the final balanced budget, which incorporates an increase in Southwark's local Council Tax of 4.99%, and the noting of the Greater London Authority's proposed precept. The Assembly also formally moved and resolved the item concerning the proportionality and allocation of seats on committees.

The Planning Committee (Smaller Applications) of Southwark Council met on Wednesday 21 January 2026 to discuss two planning applications. The meeting was scheduled to consider a previously adjourned application for land rear 19-49 Bush Road, London SE8 5AP, and a new application for 26 Leathermarket Street, London SE1 3HN.

The Planning Committee (Smaller Applications) was scheduled to review planning applications for three locations: Potters Fields Park, 10 Gallery Road, and land rear of 19-49 Bush Road. The committee was also scheduled consider the minutes from their meeting on 11 November 2025.

Ordinary meeting, Council Assembly - Wednesday 12 November 2025 7.00 pm

Southwark Council Assembly met to discuss resident's rights, ethical investments, and local funding, among other items. The council approved changes to its committee structure and investment strategy, and reappointed an independent advisor. Motions were passed regarding fairer funding, ethical investments, improvements to Peckham Rye Station, and Thames Water.

Ordinary meeting, Council Assembly - Wednesday 9 July 2025 7.00 pm

At a meeting of the Southwark Council Assembly, Councillor Sarah King was elected as the new Leader of the Council, and the cabinet will remain unchanged at present. Councillors debated a motion on community safety, and also discussed motions relating to welfare cuts, making space for girls in parks, a tourist tax, and limiting gambling premises. The assembly also approved a waiver for Councillor Maggie Browning's attendance due to maternity leave, and reviewed the Treasury Management Outturn report for 2024-25.
