The County Council of Staffordshire met on Thursday 26 March 2026 to appoint a new Leader. Councillor Martin Murray was appointed as the Leader of the Council. The meeting also saw the appointment of Councillor Hayley Coles as the new Deputy Leader.

The Staffordshire County Council meeting on Thursday 12 March 2026 addressed a range of significant issues, including the government's white paper on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), the promotion of Staffordshire as a destination for investment and tourism, and the council's Pay Policy Statement. Decisions were made regarding the appointment of committee chairs.

Safeguarding and Education Overview and Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday 10th March 2026 2:00pm

The Safeguarding and Education Overview and Scrutiny Committee met on Tuesday 10 March 2026 to discuss the findings of an Ofsted revisit to Children's Services and the data surrounding Return Home Interviews. The committee resolved to welcome the improvements identified by Ofsted, congratulate the staff involved, and schedule a follow-up report on the ILACS Implementation Plan for September. They also agreed to explore the scrutiny of the transition from the Care Director to Liquid Logic case recording system.

The Safeguarding and Education Overview and Scrutiny Committee of Staffordshire Council met on Thursday 26 February 2026 to discuss safeguarding concerns related to self-neglect, school absenteeism and exclusions, and school attainment. The committee reviewed current responses to self-neglect, noted improvements in school attendance and reductions in permanent exclusions, and examined detailed attainment data across primary and secondary education.
