Purpose
The
Cabinet will be asked to agree the Council Tax Base for
2025/26, as part of the
process for setting the annual level of Council Tax.
Content
Cabinet resolved to:
(i) Agree that, in
accordance with the Local Authorities (Calculation of Tax Base)
(England) Regulations 2012, the amount calculated by the London
Borough of Barking and Dagenham as its Council Tax Base for the
year 2025/26 shall be 58,146.80 Band ‘D’ properties;
and
(ii) Recommend the
Assembly to agree that, in accordance with provisions of the
Levelling Up and Regeneration Act 2023, the 100% premium on
long-term (over one year) empty homes be implemented from 1 April
2025 and a 100% premium on second homes be implemented from 1 April
2026, as detailed in section 5 of the report.
