About

The Committee has responsibility in providing effective critical friend challenge to both pre-decision/policy development and post-decision scrutiny to ensure effective decision making processes to improve outcomes for the residents of Cornwall.  The Committee’s responsibilities include the discharge of functions relating to the operation, planning and provision of adult’s and children’s health services in Cornwall, reviewing legislative changes affecting health and social care and the implications for Cornwall and its communities.  The Committee has statutory powers to obtain information, ask questions in public and make recommendations for improvements, which must be considered.  The Committee undertakes scrutiny and policy development of Adult Social Care and Public Health policy with other local government, NHS and voluntary organisations with a view to tackling local health concerns and health inequalities.      The Committee Work Programme can be found here: HASCOSC - Committee Work Programme
