The Standards Committee promotes high standards of conduct by Councillors and co-opted Members by helping them to observe the Code of Conduct. Under the Localism Act 2011, the Standards regime is being reshaped and a new Code of Conduct will be put to the Full Council for approval on 27 Sept 2012. There are two 'Independent Persons' appointed by the Council to advise on Standards complaints, they are Mr E Smith and Mrs Mary Gibbs.
