Purpose: Cabinet will consider three high-value NCIL applications.

Content: Cabinet approved the following recommendations: ·       Approve the allocation of £400,000 of NCIL funding from the Marylebone neighbourhood area towards the Moxon Street Public Realm Improvement Scheme. ·       Approve the allocation of £309,403 of NCIL funding from the Soho neighbourhood area towards the Soho CCTV Deployment project. ·       Approve the allocation of £213,579 of NCIL funding from the St James’s neighbourhood area towards the West End & Chinatown CCTV Deployment project. ·       Note and approve the return of £66,000 to the Pimlico Neighbourhood Area for application WCC Communities – Outdoor Gyms & Multi-Use Games Areas (MUGAs), as agreed by Cabinet on October 21, 2024.   Reasons for Decision: The benefits of the decision are listed below in accordance with the respective applications: ·       Moxon Street Public Realm Improvement Scheme: the project aims to enhance the public realm experience in Marylebone Village by reducing vehicular traffic and improving pedestrian flows, by creating a safer and more attractive environment by rationalizing traffic access, enhancing pedestrian pathways, and introducing sustainable green elements. ·       Soho CCTV Camera Deployment: The project aims to reduce crime in Soho by installing a network of CCTV cameras to deter, track, and apprehend criminals. Lower crime rates will boost business confidence, attract diverse businesses, and promote growth in Soho and nearby areas. ·       West End & Chinatown CCTV Camera Deployment: The project aims to install 13 CCTV cameras in crime hotspots in this area over five years. The cameras will help identify offenders, gather evidence, and plan effective operations. The aim is to deter crime and enhance safety for residents, businesses, and tourists in Westminster.
