Reason for CSO Exception: Security works where the publication of documents or details in the tendering process could prejudice the security of SCC and Salford residents Tick if it applies ?   The reasons are: Best value for the council, whilst taking its first initial step into electric refuse vehicles. It will also give the council the opportunity to gain first hand data and information from its operational use to further inform and develop the business case and commercial viability for future purchases should this be the council’s approved approach to fleet decarbonisation in the future.   Options considered and rejected were: Alternative electric refuse vehicles trialled. The preferred eRCV build identified by the team from the trials is a Mercedes chassis with a Terberg hydraulic lift and Dennis Eagle body, provided by Estar Truck and Van. This vehicle performed best in the trials and was able to complete all rounds with a return charge of around 40% on the longest route day. The trial for this vehicle was completed in the winter months where maximum demand would be drawn from the battery.   Diesel equivalent refuse collection vehicle option on the basis that the council is developing a planned approach to fleet decarbonisation, replacing fleet vehicles for low carbon alternatives through the fleet replacement programme.
