Purpose: This report follows the Member Promoted Issue (MPI) raised by Councillor Sullivan at Kincardine & Mearns Area Committee, in support of the Newtonhill Community, relating to the installation of additional Christmas Lights in Newtonhill. Following Kincardine & Mearns Area Committee on 29 October 2024, the Committee instructed Roads & Infrastructure Services to submit a report to Infrastructure Services Committee to seek approval of the installation contrary to the current Council Policy.

Content: Members voted 11:3 in favour of the motion of “Agree that the current policy should be followed and the Christmas Lights installation be denied; and to expedite the review of the Festive Lighting Policy with a report to be brought back to Infrastructure Services Committee in October 2025” therefore the motion was carried.
