Purpose: The Gambling Act 2005 regulates the provision of gambling in Great Britain. The Act makes local authorities responsible for licensing premises that are used for gambling within their area, and to adopt and publish a ‘Statement of Gambling Policy’ at least every 3 years. The purpose of the policy is to set out the principles the local authority will apply when carrying out its role under the Act.   Cabinet is requested to: Note the draft revised Statement of Gambling Policy, review the statutory consultation feedback and provide any proposed comments for inclusion within the document, and recommend the draft reviewed revised Statement of Gambling Policy to Full Council for adoption as a policy framework document

Content: For the reasons set out in this report and its appendices, Cabinet RESOLVED to Agree:   i)  To note the draft revised Statement of Gambling Policy at Appendix 1;   ii)  To note the statutory consultation feedback set out at paragraphs 3.5-3.7 of the report and note the documents at Appendix 4 and 5; and   iii)  To Recommend the draft revised Statement of Gambling Policy, at Appendix 1, including any comment(s) referenced in (ii) above, to Full Council for adoption as a policy framework document.   Alternatives Considered   The policy was Approved by full Licensing Committee on 26 August 2025, the reviewed Statement of Gambling Policy will go to full Council for adoption.
