Purpose: This report is asking Committee to consider and comment on the draft annual report “Towards a Fairer Aberdeenshire” which incorporates the Aberdeenshire Child Poverty Action Report that supports the Aberdeenshire Local Outcomes Improvement Plan priority ‘Reducing Poverty’.

Content: List of the locations of settings where new childminders have been placed to be distributed to Committee members.   Officers to investigate inclusion of helpful information and signposting on front page of Council website in order to make it easier for the public to locate these resources.   ECS Committee comments to be brought to Communities Committee:   1.         Why do northern towns in Aberdeenshire typically see higher levels of poverty and what can the Council do about it? 2.         What can be done to improve the number of in-need people being reached by messaging? 3.         What can be done to reduce the stigma associated with accessing poverty services? 4.         Can the “Over 2 Youth” community engagement event be run again due to its success?
