Date of Decision: December 16, 2025
Purpose: For Surrey County Council to adopt the statutory Surrey Hills National Landscape Management Plan.
Content: RESOLVED: 1. That Cabinet agree to adopt the Surrey Hills National Landscape Management Plan. Reasons for Decisions: Where a National Landscape is within a Local Authority’s administrative boundary, the authority has a statutory duty under Section 89 Part IV of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 (“the CRoW Act”) to prepare and adopt a Management Plan for that area. Under the same act, Local Authorities must review such plans at intervals of no more than 5 years. For the Management Plan to come into force, all Local Authorities that comprise the Surrey Hills National Landscape must formally adopt the Management Plan. (The decisions on this item can be called-in by the Communities, Environment and Highways Select Committee)
