Purpose:
Content: It was moved by Councillor Cole, seconded by Councillor Guest, and RESOLVED THAT IT BE RECOMMENDED TO COUNCIL that: 1. The responsibility for considering leave of absence requests under Section 85 of the Local Government Act 1972 be delegated to the Standards Committee and that the Responsibility for Functions section of the Constitution be updated accordingly; and 2. The Special Leave Policy be supported and recommended to the Independent Remuneration Panel, when next it meets, for inclusion in the Members’ Allowances Scheme. It was further RESOLVED that: 1. The procedure for a Member to seek a formal leave of absence request under Section 85 of the Local Government Act 1972 be noted and included in the Members’ Handbook for future reference; and 2. That subject to the Council supporting the Special Leave Policy it be included in the Members’ Handbook pending its consideration by the Independent Remuneration Panel.
