The Audit Committee of Test Valley Council convened on Monday, 17 June 2024, to discuss several key issues, including updates on external and internal audits, and amendments to the committee's work programme.

External Audit Update

The Council’s external auditors, Ernst & Young, presented their Audit Planning Report, which outlined their approach to the 2023/24 Statement of Accounts audit. The report also provided a brief update on the national backlog of audits for earlier financial years. The committee approved the planned materiality and reporting levels as set out in the report.

Internal Audit Annual Report 2023/24 and Progress Report 2024/25

The Internal Audit Annual Report 2023/24 and the Progress Report 2024/25 were presented by the Internal Audit Manager. The reports provided an opinion on the overall adequacy and effectiveness of the Council’s internal control environment and a summary of the audit work undertaken. The committee endorsed the annual report and noted the progress report.

Audit Committee Work Programme

The committee approved amendments to the Work Programme, including the update to the External Audit Plan for 2023/24 and the inclusion of feedback to the Complaints Annual Report in December.

The meeting concluded with the approval of the work programme with the proposed amendments.
