February 25, 2025 View on council websiteSummary
This meeting will include discussion of three residents' requests for a review of a decision to refuse to grant them Discretionary Housing Payments. The meeting will take place partly in private, so that information relating to individuals can be discussed.
Review of refusal to grant Discretionary Housing Payment
The most significant item on the agenda for the meeting is a series of three requests from residents for the Panel to review decisions relating to Discretionary Housing Payments.
Westminster council makes Discretionary Housing Payments to people in receipt of benefits like Housing Benefit or Universal Credit, to help them afford their rent. The Discretionary Housing Payment scheme is a national scheme administered by local councils and governed by the Discretionary Housing Payments (England and Wales) Regulations 2013. The report pack for the meeting says that:
Three residents have requested that the Panel review a decision to refuse a Discretionary Housing Payment.
The meeting papers do not name the three residents involved in the review, but one of the reviews is about the case of a Westminster resident named Stuart Love.
