The Devizes Area Board met to elect a new Chairman and Vice-Chairman, and to appoint a representative to the Local Highways and Footway Improvement Group (LHFIG). Councillor Dominic Muns was elected as Chairman, Councillor Tamara Reay was elected as Vice-Chairman, and the appointment of a representative to the LHFIG was deferred.
Election of Chairman
Councillor Dominic Muns was elected as Chairman of the Devizes Area Board for 2025/26. Councillor Laura Mayes, Chairman of the Council, nominated Councillor Dominic Muns, and Councillor Maria Hoult seconded the nomination. As there were no further nominations, Councillor Dominic Muns was elected. The constitution states that:
In the event of only one valid nomination being received the person presiding will declare the nominated Member elected.
Election of Vice-Chairman
Councillor Tamara Reay was elected as Vice-Chairman of the Devizes Area Board for 2025/26. Councillor Laura Mayes nominated Councillor Tamara Reay, and Councillor Maria Hoult seconded the nomination. As there were no further nominations, Councillor Tamara Reay was elected.
Appointment of a Representative to the LHFIG
The appointment of a representative to the Local Highways and Footway Improvement Group (LHFIG) was deferred to the next meeting of the Devizes Area Board, scheduled for 30 June 2025. However, Councillor Philip Whitehead was appointed as interim representative for the LHFIG until that time.
The LHFIG operates as an informal working group making recommendations to the Area Board for approval. The terms of reference for the LHFIG were set out in the report provided to the board. The LHFIG will normally be made up of:
- Members of the Area Board
- Town and Parish Council representatives
- Community / Stakeholder representatives
The LHFIG's terms of reference are:
To make recommendations to the Area Board to determine priorities and levels of expenditure required for small-scale transport schemes in the community area.
