The Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Fire Pension Scheme Board are scheduled to meet on Thursday, 5 June 2025, to discuss pension administration performance, current issues, and the Fire Pension Board Plan. The board will also receive updates on scheme bulletins, the Fire Pension Officers' Group, and the Scheme Advisory Board.
Performance Data
The board is scheduled to receive an update from West Yorkshire Pension Fund (WYPF) on pension administration performance. The report pack includes data on completed processes, work in progress, and member web registrations. It also contains membership numbers, an administration update, and information on communication, training, and IT updates.
The report pack highlights issues with meeting targets for deferred benefits set up on leaving, life certificates, and refund quotes. It also notes errors in relation to the Gross Contribution Adjustment on bulk data already submitted and the mandates.
The report pack states that scheme managers should ensure that the correct version of the Matthews 2 GAD calculator1 is being used.
Current Issues
Tony Kavanagh, HR Advisor to the Board, is scheduled to provide an update on current issues, including a summary of Internal Dispute Resolution Procedure (IDRP) cases, breaches, the Sargeant / McCloud Age Discrimination Remedy2, the Matthews 2nd Options Exercise, and the Pensions Dashboard3.
Fire Pension Board Plan
The board is scheduled to receive an update on the Fire Pension Board Plan, including the Board’s Action Plan, Training Record, and Risk Register.
Fire Pensions Scheme Bulletins
Tony Kavanagh, HR Advisor to the Board, is scheduled to present a report on recent Fire Pensions Scheme bulletins. According to a summary of Firefighters' Pension Scheme (FPS) Bulletins 91 and 92 included in the report pack:
Home Office are reviewing the legislation to determine which groups of member can reinstate opted out service to the FPS 1992.
The summary also notes that the Department for Work and Pensions has assessed the Pensions Dashboard project and concluded that it is back on a viable footing.
Fire Pension Officers' Group
Tony Kavanagh, HR Advisor to the Board, is scheduled to provide an update on the last meeting of the Fire Pension Officers’ Group.
Update from Scheme Advisory Board
West Yorkshire Pension Fund is scheduled to provide an update on the Scheme Advisory Board.
