The Overview and Security Committee met to discuss the Mayor's achievements and priorities, the Mayor's Waste Improvement Programme, and a progress update on actions to support local markets and traders. Councillors questioned the Mayor on topics ranging from hate crime to housing, and agreed to revisit the waste improvement programme in six months to assess progress on data collection and community engagement.
Overview & Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 25th March, 2025 5.30 p.m.
The Overview and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss the scrutiny improvement plan, a continuous improvement plan, the strategic performance and delivery report, and the budget monitoring report. The committee discussed the accuracy and measurement of the scrutiny improvement plan, and the need for more detail in the continuous improvement plan. They also raised concerns about homelessness, adult social care, and special educational needs and disability (SEND) funding pressures.
Overview & Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 18th February, 2025 6.30 p.m.
The Overview and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss the Metropolitan Police's work in the borough, the Council's Workforce to Reflect the Community Strategy, and the Tower Hamlets Local Plan 2038. They approved the membership of the Council's scrutiny sub-committees, following recent changes to the political proportionality of the Council.
Grants Determination (Cabinet) Sub-Committee - Wednesday, 5th February, 2025 5.30 p.m.
The Grants Determination Sub-Committee agreed to renew the Section 92 Police Act 1996 grant agreement with the Metropolitan Police Service. This will see the council continue to directly fund a police task force of four sergeants and 22 officers. The Sub-Committee also noted a performance report on the Mayor's Community Grants Programme for July to September 2024. The Sub-Committee was content that two amber-rated projects had returned to a green rating and that a third, run by Platform Cricket, was expected to do so soon.
