The Tower Hamlets Council Cabinet met to discuss several key issues, including mental health services for children, noise complaints, market improvements, dog control, school amalgamations, substance misuse services, and agency worker contracts, making decisions on each. The Cabinet agreed to insource the out of hours noise service, introduce a dog control public spaces protection order, and approve the amalgamation of Globe Primary and Rachel Keeling Nursery Schools. They also approved a contract for Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services, a redesign of the substance misuse service, and an agency worker contract extension with MATRIX.

The Tower Hamlets Cabinet, led by Mayor Lutfur Rahman, convened to discuss a range of strategic and financial matters, including budget monitoring, endorsement of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry Phase 2 report, and bringing estates parking enforcement services in-house. The Cabinet noted the Safeguarding Adults Board Annual Report 2023-24. The Cabinet noted the Record of Corporate Director’s Actions Quarter 1& 2 (2024 -2025). The Cabinet noted the Homecare Procurement Contract Award – Process Update and the reasons for the officer decision not to award the Homecare contract.

The meeting agreed changes to waste collection policies in the borough, approved new capital spending to improve leisure facilities and discussed a range of policy and strategic updates.

The most significant decisions were to progress a new draft Local Plan and to begin consultation on a Public Space Protection Order for dogs and their owners. The Cabinet also agreed to extend the contract for the Barkantine Heat and Power Company for two years, and to grant permission for five schools to become academies.

Children and Young People’s Supported Housing Pathway
