Licensing Panel - Thursday 25th September, 2025 9.30 am

The Licensing Panel of North Northamptonshire Council met on Thursday 25 September 2025 to discuss a number of licensing issues. The panel was scheduled to consider a request for dispensation from the council's Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy, as well as several reports regarding the fitness of individuals to hold private hire driver licences. The meeting was scheduled to be available for the public to view via the council's Democratic Services' YouTube channel.

At a meeting on 3 September 2025, North Northamptonshire Council discussed a range of issues, including public health, the appointment of independent persons, and political balance on council committees. Councillors approved the Director of Public Health’s annual report, the establishment of an Independent Remuneration Panel, and a scheme for the enrolment of Honorary Aldermen and Alderwomen. The Employment Committee of North Northamptonshire Council convened to discuss and approve recommendations regarding the selection and appointment of a permanent Director of Transformation & Strategy. They also approved the minutes from their meeting held on 8 January 2025, and a funding uplift for domestic abuse services. A sub-committee was established to manage the selection process for the Director of Transformation & Strategy.

The Licensing Sub-Committee convened to review the premises licence for Corby Europe Shop, and ultimately decided to revoke the licence. The review was prompted by concerns raised by Northamptonshire Police regarding the prevention of crime and disorder, specifically related to the sale of illicit tobacco products at the shop. Councillor Barbara Jenney was appointed Chair for the sub-committee.
