The committee noted the Surrey Fire and Rescue Service's (SFRS) progress on their improvement plan, and discussed aviation issues including noise pollution, air quality, and traffic congestion related to Gatwick, Heathrow and Farnborough airports.

The Board noted the contents of all reports and will next meet on 21 November 2024. Concerns were raised throughout the meeting about Surrey Fire and Rescue Service's (SFRS) ability to meet upcoming statutory deadlines for issuing pension-related documents to members. It was agreed that communication should be sent to members as soon as possible explaining the reasons for the expected delays and providing as much information as possible about what the delays will mean for them.

The Board discussed a range of topics, including the McCloud remedy, the Matthews remedy, the annual benefit statements, the Guaranteed Minimum Pension rectification, and cybersecurity. The Board agreed to close actions relating to pension scams, the longest failure to meet an estimate target, and the 10% pensionable allowance. It was also agreed to include an update on the progress of the annual benefit statements for 24/25 in a future Scheme Manager Update Report and to circulate the log of exceptions with Board members for consideration at a future meeting.
