Southwark Council Assembly met to discuss resident's rights, ethical investments, and local funding, among other items. The council approved changes to its committee structure and investment strategy, and reappointed an independent advisor. Motions were passed regarding fairer funding, ethical investments, improvements to Peckham Rye Station, and Thames Water.

Licensing Committee - Monday 1 September 2025 6.00 pm

The Licensing Committee of Southwark Council met on 1 September 2025 to discuss several items, including a review of the Statement of Licensing Policy. The main focus of the meeting was to consider proposed changes to the existing policy and to agree on arrangements for public consultation. The committee was also scheduled to receive an update on recent appeals and prosecutions.

Ordinary meeting, Council Assembly - Wednesday 9 July 2025 7.00 pm

At a meeting of the Southwark Council Assembly, Councillor Sarah King was elected as the new Leader of the Council, and the cabinet will remain unchanged at present. Councillors debated a motion on community safety, and also discussed motions relating to welfare cuts, making space for girls in parks, a tourist tax, and limiting gambling premises. The assembly also approved a waiver for Councillor Maggie Browning's attendance due to maternity leave, and reviewed the Treasury Management Outturn report for 2024-25.

Annual and Mayor Making meeting, Council Assembly - Saturday 17 May 2025 11.00 am

The annual meeting of the Southwark Council Assembly included the election of Councillor Sonny Lambe as the Mayor of Southwark for 2025-2026, and considered reports on executive functions, committee appointments, and scrutiny activity. Councillor Sabina Emmanuel was appointed as Deputy Mayor.

The Council Assembly of Southwark Council on Wednesday 19 March 2025 saw the passing of a motion on green and leisure spaces, a motion on the extension of the franchise, a motion to support the creation of a National Care Service for England, and the approval of several reports. The Assembly also received community evidence submissions, heard a deputation, and responded to public and members’ questions.
