About

The Licensing Committee is responsible for approving the council's policies on most licensing and registration matters, excluding specific statements of policy for licensing and gambling. It considers and decides on applications for general safety certificates for sports stadiums, street trading and markets, film classification, and other statutory licensing responsibilities delegated to it. The committee also determines the revocation of licences and registrations under its remit and designates new sites for street trading. Licensing Sub-Committees, composed of three councillors, handle applications under the Licensing Act 2003 and the Gambling Act 2005.
