Extraordinary Meeting, Overview & Scrutiny Committee - Monday, 30th September, 2024 6.30 p.m.
The Overview & Scrutiny Committee met to consider a call-in of the Cabinet's decision to award new contracts for the provision of domiciliary care services in the borough. Following a lengthy discussion, in which concerns were raised about a lack of transparency in the decision-making process, the Committee ultimately voted to uphold the Cabinet's decision.
Tower Hamlets Health and Wellbeing Board - Monday, 23rd September, 2024 5.00 p.m.
The meeting covered a number of urgent public health issues and new plans and policies to be implemented in the borough. The Board approved the North East London Sexual and Reproductive Health Strategy 2024-2029 and the associated action plans for the borough, as well as the new Violence Against Women and Girls and Women's Safety Strategy 2024-29. They discussed the findings of the Annual Public Health Report and its implications for Tower Hamlets and heard updates on the Better Care Fund review, Children’s Mental Health Services and provision for Children with Special Educational Needs, including an update on the SEND and Inclusion Strategy 2024-2029. The Board noted a report on Maternity and Neonatal Demand and Capacity and also a report on Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment 2023. Finally, they received an update on preparations for the forthcoming Care Quality Commission inspection of Adult Social Care services.
Cabinet - Wednesday, 11th September, 2024 5.30 p.m.
The meeting agreed changes to waste collection policies in the borough, approved new capital spending to improve leisure facilities and discussed a range of policy and strategic updates.
Shortlisting for the post of Director of Adult Social Care, Appointments Sub Committee - Tuesday, 10th September, 2024 5.00 p.m.
The Appointments Sub-Committee met to shortlist candidates for the role of Director of Adult Social Care. The meeting was held in private, but the committee's recommendations were agreed to. The previous minutes from the longlisting meeting, held on 30 July 2024, were agreed.
Health & Adults Scrutiny Sub-Committee - Tuesday, 3rd September, 2024 6.30 p.m.
The Health and Adult Scrutiny Sub-Committee were presented with three presentations; one on the preparation for the forthcoming Care Quality Commission inspection of Adult Social Care, one on sexual health provision in Tower Hamlets and one on smoking cessation. The committee then noted the proposed work programme for 2024-25.

Children and Young People’s Supported Housing Pathway

...to ensure continued and high-quality services for vulnerable children and young people, the Cabinet approved the re-procurement of the Tower Hamlets Children and Young People’s Supported Housing Pathway contract for three years, with the option for two 12-month extensions, starting June 1st, 2026, at an annual value of £1,783,325, and authorized the Corporate Director of Children's Services to award the contract to the best value bidder.
