The Newham Health and Wellbeing Board met to discuss a range of health initiatives and strategies, including updates on the Newham Health Equity Programme, action on diet-related diseases, and a London-wide campaign to improve heart health. The board approved the Better Care Fund 2025-26 submission and narrative plan, and discussed integrated neighbourhood teams.

Health and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Commission - Tuesday 28th January 2025 7.00 p.m.

This meeting of Newham Council's Health and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Commission was scheduled to receive updates on the impact of national developments on local services, discuss the role and impact of health literacy within Newham's health and care system, consider the outcomes of Newham's Adult Social Care Peer Review, and review the Commission's work programme for the 2024/25 municipal year.

This meeting was scheduled to include reports on a range of health and wellbeing topics, including the Newham Health Equity Programme, the Eat Well Newham scheme, the Healthwatch Newham patient information leaflet, the work of the Deaf outreach worker and the annual report of the Newham Safeguarding Adults Board. The meeting was also scheduled to include a verbal update on how North East London Integrated Care System was approaching meeting the needs of Newham's population.

Officer Key Decision - Monday 20th January 2025

The Corporate Director of Adults (DASS), Commissioning, Health & Social Care has decided to restructure the way that Newham Council provides weight management services. The existing contract with Pulse Healthcare t/a Xyla will be terminated and two new contracts will be entered into using existing budgets and contracts. It was also decided to extend the existing contract with Nutrition Kitchen to provide Healthy Cooking Classes.

The meeting on 29 October 2024 was scheduled to include a review and adoption of the 'Meeting Newham’s Future Needs' scrutiny report, an update on the Newham Safeguarding Adults Board, and the consideration of a report on the provision and development of 0-19 health services.
