The Surrey County Council met to discuss the Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) plans, address the findings of the Local Child Safeguarding Practice Review regarding the death of Sara Sharif, and consider various committee reports and member questions. The council approved the creation of a single-purpose pension authority for the Surrey Pension Fund, supported a motion to seek clarity from the government on debt issues in Woking and Spelthorne, and passed a motion to scrutinise the review into the death of Sara Sharif. A motion regarding the abolition of Healthwatch organisations was also supported.

The Surrey County Council cabinet met to discuss the 2026/27 draft budget, schools and early years funding, changes to adult social care charging policies, and the climate change delivery plan. The cabinet approved the draft budget for 2026/27, which includes a proposed council tax increase of 2.99%, alongside a 2% precept for social care, and also approved a number of property disposals. The cabinet also endorsed the coordinated admissions scheme for September 2027, and recommended the scheme to the County Council for approval.

In a meeting held by the Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Lifelong Learning, Surrey County Council approved a proposal to extend the age range of Ewhurst Church of England Infant School to include Key Stage 2 education, effectively turning it into a primary school from September 2026. This decision aims to address falling pupil numbers and ensure the school's sustainability.
